About The Position

The Night Auditor is responsible for auditing, balancing, and reporting on various hotel operations to provide accurate financial information on the hotel's daily performance. This role oversees front office operations during the overnight shift and may require working alone or with a partner. Key duties include handling credit card and cash transactions, preparing financial summaries, posting charges, securing guest information, and learning/implementing safety and emergency procedures. The position also involves checking accounting records, tracking revenue and occupancy statistics, verifying account postings, and preparing operational reports for management. The Night Auditor acts as the overnight point person for guest assistance, safety, and communication.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Able to handle cash and perform basic mathematic calculations accurately.
  • Previous hotel experience.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Able to work overnights, weekends and holidays.

Nice To Haves

  • Accounting background preferred.
  • Hotel Related Software a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Audit, balance, and report on hotel operations (food and beverage, rooms, front desk, gift shop, etc.) to provide accurate financial information.
  • Oversee front office/front desk operations during the overnight shift.
  • Understand and adhere to proper credit card and cash handling policies and procedures.
  • Prepare a summary of cash, check, and credit card activities.
  • Post room charges and room taxes to guest accounts.
  • Properly secure guest information.
  • Learn and implement safety, emergency, and accident prevention policies and procedures.
  • Use repetitive hand and body motions such as grasping, writing, typing, listening, hearing, and visual acuity.
  • Use a computer for long periods of time or duration of shift.
  • Check front office accounting records for accuracy and compile information for financial records.
  • Track room revenues, occupancy percentages, and other front office operating statistics.
  • Verify all account postings and balances.
  • Summarize results of operations and prepare reports for management.
  • Handle all front desk operations, with or without assistance.
  • Be the overnight point person for guest assistance, safety and communication.
  • Perform other tasks as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
