About The Position

A Night Auditor is responsible for overseeing the auditing, posting and balancing of daily financial transactions to support the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability. This role involves managing guest services, financial auditing and reporting, administrative tasks, operational support, system management, security and compliance, and supportive functions. Key responsibilities include checking in and out guests, handling late arrivals, responding to inquiries, and addressing complaints or special requests. The role also involves overseeing the auditing, posting, and balancing of daily financial transactions, running end-of-day audit reports, and reconciling credit card payments. Administrative tasks include updating guest accounts, maintaining records, preparing invoices, and coordinating with other hotel departments. Operational support includes monitoring room availability and managing reservations. System management involves resetting hotel systems for the next day and handling computer issues. Security and compliance are crucial, requiring adherence to hotel policies and safety protocols. Finally, the role includes assisting the Night Manager with additional tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Hospitality or a Business-related field
  • 2 years of college education, minimum required
  • Able to communicate in English and Spanish, required
  • Customer service experience, required
  • Prior cash and/or credit card handling experience
  • Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
  • Available for night shifts, weekends and occasional long hours
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Knowledge of safety and security procedures
  • Advanced math and bookkeeping skills
  • Ability to perform computer-based tasks such as data entry, accounting, word processing, invoicing and billing

Responsibilities

  • Checking in and out guests, handling late arrivals, responding to inquiries, and addressing complaints or special requests.
  • Answering phones, and resolving complaints or issues promptly while maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor.
  • Overseeing the auditing, posting, and balancing of daily financial transactions, including room, restaurant, bar, and other hotel revenue streams.
  • Running end-of-day audit reports, reconciling credit card payments, and ensuring all accounts are accurate for management review.
  • Updating guest accounts, maintaining records, preparing invoices, and coordinating with other hotel departments to resolve discrepancies.
  • Monitoring room availability, managing reservations, and ensuring the front desk operates efficiently with minimal staff.
  • Resetting hotel systems for the next day, inputting revenue and expense data, and making necessary corrections or adjustments in the property management system (OnQ, Micros, or similar) to ensure smooth operations.
  • Handling all computer end-of-day issues and problems that might occur throughout the shift.
  • Maintaining confidentiality, safeguarding hotel assets, and following company policies and safety protocols.
  • Monitoring night operations to ensure adherence to hotel policies, security standards, and guest service excellence.
  • Assisting the Night Manager with additional tasks as needed, including filing reports, maintaining backup vouchers, and cross-training in other hotel areas.
