About The Position

The Night Auditor maximizes revenue and creates value by providing excellent customer service. This includes effective reservation sales, handling all guest accounts efficiently and accurately, and assisting in all phases of guest experience such as check-in, check-out, and problem resolution. This is an overnight shift with hours ranging from 10pm-6am or 11pm-7am.

Requirements

  • Provide high level customer service, communicate effectively with guests and team members, follow instructions, ability to learn quickly, pay attention to detail, and maintain composure when working under pressure
  • Proficiency in keyboarding and computer technology, i.e. e-mail, MS Word, Excel, & other hotel related systems
  • Aptitude with numbers/data analysis.
  • Knowledge/experience of accounting principles
  • High school diploma and/or equivalent work experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior customer service/hospitality experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic functions.
  • Must be willing to cross train in other accounting or hotel-related areas.
  • Perform guest services functions as required (i.e. check guests in/out, take reservations, we-up calls, etc.).
  • Audit and reconcile financial and statistical reports.
  • Prepare and distribute necessary daily reports as required (i.e., Daily Operating Report, Discount Programs, Tax Reports, etc.) according to hotel standards.
  • Prepare and distribute month-end reports.
  • Audit, reconcile, consolidate, and transmit all credit cards on a timely basis.
  • Prioritize job functions in order to meet deadlines.
  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly and annual data processing system functions as required.
  • Keep management abreast of any unusual operational or financial events and/or deviations of policies or procedures.
  • Respond to governmental inquiries upon receipt.
  • Walk the property frequently, observe and appropriately handle all safety/security related matters for the property; complete Incident Report noting specific details, witnesses – names/phone numbers, etc.
  • Know hotel layout, i.e. fire exits, storage, electrical room, etc.
  • Make rounds – check windows, doors, and be aware of unauthorized individuals in the area
  • Contact Police / Fire Department when appropriate
  • Check parking lot for unauthorized vehicles and request towing when necessary
  • Answer telephone calls, demonstrating excellent customer service and phone etiquette, take messages, answer questions, and assist in guest requests during busy periods or when Night Auditor is away from desk
  • Maintain radio contact with Front Desk (professional language and tone)
