About The Position

The Night Auditor is responsible for recording, processing, and analyzing the day's closing figures, completing all required reports, and ensuring that the day's credit transactions are in balance. This role also involves attending to guest needs, including registration, checkout, cashiering, and making wake-up calls. The Night Auditor acts as the Manager on Duty during night hours, greeting guests, performing check-in and check-out procedures, handling payments, maintaining a house bank, cashing checks, exchanging currency, and managing guest bookings and inquiries.

Requirements

  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language used in the workplace.
  • Requires good communication skills, verbal, written and electronic.
  • Considerable knowledge of complex mathematical calculations and computer programs.
  • Must have excellent leadership capability and customer relations skills.
  • Must be detail oriented with outstanding organizational and communication skills.
  • Must possess basic computer skills.
  • Must possess basic computational ability.
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy and collect accurate information to resolve conflicts.
  • Knowledgeable about basic function of Windows OS, MS Office, PMS, PBX, Key system and POS.
  • Self-driven and able to work independently.
  • Exceptionally strong in issue resolution and proven analytical skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • High school or equivalent education required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the hospitality industry preferred.
  • Experience in a front desk or customer service role preferred.
  • Accounting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as the MOD during the night-time hours.
  • Greets and welcomes guests upon arrival.
  • Performs guest registration and check out procedures.
  • Accepts payment for guests accounts both at the time of registration and at checkout.
  • Maintains a house bank and makes a deposit and accurate reports of receipts daily.
  • Cashes checks and exchanges currency for guests.
  • Accurately handles cash transactions and balances a cash drawer to the given amount.
  • Acknowledges rewards members and returning guests.
  • Takes and manages guest bookings, up-selling opportunities and informing them about ways to improve their stay.
  • Handles cash and credit transactions.
  • Handles all guest inquiries and requests courteously and professionally.
  • Performs all audit procedures daily as set forth by the hotel and company.
  • Completes Daily Report, Comp Reports including F&B as well as Rooms, Pace Reports, and any other reporting that is assigned.
  • Balances all cash receipts and work performed during the audit shift.
  • Makes deposits of cash.
  • Prepares the front office for the AM Shift and resets days business.
  • Maintains all nightly reports to inform day hotel management of overnight activities/incidents.
  • Acts as PBX operator during the audit shift.
  • Transmits and receives messages using equipment such as telephone, fax, and switchboard.
  • Ensures all wake up calls are made in a timely fashion, properly using guest names.
  • Assists/directs hotel guests and/or emergency personnel in case of an emergency.
  • Posts charges such as room, food, liquor, or telephone by hand or machine.
  • Makes restaurant, transportation, or entertainment reservations for guests.
  • Reviews current days arrival reports.
  • Checks all special request reservations to ensure that the room is blocked per request, VIPs identified, billing is set up correctly, deposits are taken, and other departments are notified of room assignment.
  • Attends all scheduled training, departmental and hotel meetings.
  • Ensures awareness of special promotions, daily activities, arriving VIPs, Group/Conferences in house, special requests, and scheduled shuttles.
  • Practices safe work habits and ensures safe work practices to avoid injury to self and others.
  • Ensures all privacy and security protocols are followed as well as departmental and company procedures.
  • Answers inquiries pertaining to hotel policies, services, registration, shopping, dining, entertainment, and travel directions.
  • Maintains an extensive knowledge of the hotel, its services, and facilities.
  • Maintains lobby cleanliness and organization.
  • Assists in booking reservations.
  • Assists with handling mail, packages, facsimiles, and guest items.
  • Performs other duties assigned by manager or supervisor.
  • Assists with any guest inquiry.
  • Follows all company and safety and security policies and procedures.
  • Reports maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries.
  • Performs other reasonable job duties as requested by direct and indirect supervisors.
