About The Position

Cogir Senior Living manages retirement residences across the country, offering independent living, assisted living, and memory care. The Night Attendant reports to the Maintenance Manager and is responsible for responding to incoming calls, greeting and directing visitors, answering inquiries professionally, and cleaning and sanitizing common areas. The role also involves providing evening security and emergency response for residents.

Requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written English communication skills, demonstrating empathy and patience.
  • Ability to provide feedback on a day-to-day basis.
  • Knowledge and experience with standard institutional cleaning techniques.
  • Must exhibit professional and polished telephone manner.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at once, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
  • Highly organized and detail-focused.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Current CPR and First aid.
  • Current Smart Choices Responsible Service Certification (Serving it Safe).
  • Current (within 6 months) Vulnerable Position/Sector Screening (VPS).

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in commercial/residential/Healthcare cleaning and laundry procedures is desirable.
  • Previous experience in reception is considered an asset.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Word (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, E-mail) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Run the front desk in a courteous and efficient manner.
  • Answer all incoming calls and respond to caller’s inquiries in a positive, professional manner.
  • Redirect calls as appropriate and take clear, concise messages when required.
  • Greet, assist, and direct all visitors.
  • Handle various administrative and introductory accounting duties.
  • Pick up and sort internal mail.
  • Stamp, deliver, and maintain the mail machine for external mail.
  • Prepare packages and arrange courier pick up.
  • Arrange meeting room schedule and bookings.
  • Update phone and distribution lists.
  • Replace staff as necessary.
  • Answer and respond immediately to the emergency response system.
  • Report promptly to management any maintenance and repairs necessary throughout the facility by entering them into the Maintenance Care system.
  • Be accessible to your team and management and promptly attend to any problems/concerns that may arise.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, fully stocked, and well-organized reception area.
  • Establish and maintain harmonious relationships with residents, their families, and employees.
  • Report to management if residents have concerns or complaints.
  • Assist with small projects as required by other administrative support (e.g., labels, bulk mailing).
  • Provide evening security and emergency response for residents when required.
  • Clean areas according to assigned schedules using appropriate cleaning and sanitation methods and procedures.
  • Clean common areas, including furniture, kitchen and washroom fixtures, walls, ceilings, lights, vents, and windows.
  • Do laundry (including washing, treating, and folding).
  • Operate floor care machines and steam cleaning equipment.
  • Strip, scrub, spray, and buff all carpet and non-carpet floor surfaces.
  • Pick up garbage and recycling and transport to designated areas.
  • Adhere to established residence policies and procedures, including safety rules and safe working practices.
  • Prepare documentation as required according to residence policy.
  • Be aware of the Residents Rights & Responsibilities and endeavor to respect and promote them.
  • Attend in-service training as required to better serve the needs of the residents.
  • Complete The Learning Centre as monthly online training.
  • Attend staff meetings as required to be aware of changes in the Residence.
  • Participate in the Quality Improvement Program.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
  • Uphold and promote the organization’s values and philosophy relating particularly to ethics, morality, and integrity.
