About The Position

St. Francis Medical Center is a Comprehensive Stroke Center, STEMI Receiving Center, ED Approved for Pediatrics, Geriatric ED, Level III Neonatal ICU, and Level II Trauma Center. The Neonatal Respiratory Care Practitioner performs acute clinical care to the neonate/newborn, including a variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, common sense, and initiative to apply prescribed procedures, treatments, and testing to the newborn and pediatric patient in a safe and professional manner. The Neonatal RCP assumes responsibility for delivering all respiratory care in the Perinatal area (NICU, Nursery, Labor and Delivery, and ER) as required.

Requirements

  • Current State Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license required.
  • Currently Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Neonatal/Pediatric Specialty (NPS) credential from the NRBC.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certified from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) upon hire and maintain current.
  • Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the AHA or ARC certification upon hire and maintain current.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the AHA certification upon hire and maintain current.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certificate from the AHA certification upon hire and maintain current.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate Degree or Bachelor of Science degree preferred.
  • Two (2) years of neonatal clinical experience preferred, proving neonatal respiratory care in an autonomous/expanded role in a level II or level III NICU.

Responsibilities
