About The Position

The NICU Dietary Technician at Bon Secours St. Mary's Hospital of Richmond is responsible for preparing daily human milk and formula infant feeds according to written formulations or recipes. This role involves documenting, labeling, and storing prepared feedings, delivering them to NICU refrigerators, and maintaining records of infant feeding orders, preparation, and inventory using electronic medical records and milk tracking systems. The technician must operate all necessary equipment safely and hygienically, and assist and train other technicians as needed.

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years old
• 1-2 years experience as a diet technician or related field in medical setting
• Basic math skills required, including ability to pass a competency test post-training related to job function
• Good personal hygiene, neat grooming and dress code compliance (scrubs, hats, masks provided by hospital)
• Effective verbal and written communication
• Must be able to operate equipment necessary to perform essential functions
• Must be able to pass background check and drug test

Nice To Haves

• Diet technician or associate nutrition degree preferred

Responsibilities

• Preparation of daily human milk and formula infant feeds according to written formulations or recipes
• Document, label and store prepared feedings for infants according to policies and procedures
• Deliver prepared feeds to NICU refrigerators daily
• Maintain records of infant feeding orders, preparation and inventory using electronic medical record and milk tracking systems
• Operates all equipment needed to prepare feeds for infants in a safe, sanitary manner
• Assist and train other technicians as needed to help department operate efficiently
