About The Position

This is a part-time internship position where the employee will assist with daily resident activities, conduct resident interviews, perform equipment audits, file documents, and organize resident rooms, communal areas, and storage areas. The role requires adherence to the organization's mission and vision, maintaining current knowledge, attending staff meetings and mandatory in-services, and wearing appropriate protective clothing and equipment.

Requirements

  • High School Student with work permit if required
  • High School graduate interested in pursuing healthcare career
  • College Student interested in pursuing healthcare degree
  • HIPAA Training /Certification within 30 days of hire
  • Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong written and verbal skills.
  • Basic Computer Skills
  • Follows Code of Conduct policy.
  • Adheres to dress code; appearance is neat and clean.
  • Completes annual educational requirements.
  • Maintains regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within designated time.
  • Wears identification when on duty; uses computerized time clock system correctly.
  • Completes in-services and returns in a timely fashion.
  • Attends annual review and/or skills fair and department in-services, as scheduled.
  • Attempts to end conversations and other interactions in a positive manner; leaves others with a good impression of the Hospital Authority of Miller County and its employees.
  • Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
  • Communicates the mission statement of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with daily resident activities.
  • Conducts resident interviews to identify concerns for the IDT in care plan meetings.
  • Reviews the resident activities calendar daily and assists the activities director in preparation, conducting, and cleanup of group activities.
  • Visits and interacts with residents daily.
  • Completes side rail audits weekly.
  • Collects resident store lists weekly.
  • Distributes items bought at the store to residents weekly.
  • Cleans and changes oxygen concentrator filters and exterior weekly.
  • Cleans resident IV pumps, feeding pumps, and poles weekly.
  • Audits emergency supplies (flashlights and batteries) weekly.
  • Communicates appropriately and clearly to supervisor, nurse managers, coworkers, and physicians.
  • Knows nursing home policies and is familiar with available services.
  • Cleans and organizes storage rooms weekly.
  • Treats residents and their families with respect and dignity; ensures confidentiality of residents’ records.
  • Interacts professionally with residents/families and provides explanations and verbal reassurance as necessary.
  • Distributes resident mail daily.
  • Scans documents into the electronic medical record.
  • Performs other duties as required and completes all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self-education, attends ongoing educational programs).
  • Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time.
  • Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.
