About The Position

The NH Student Intern assists with daily resident activities, resident interviews, equipment audits, document filing, and organization of resident rooms, communal areas, and storage areas. This role requires adherence to the organization's mission and vision, continuous learning, and participation in staff meetings and mandatory training. The intern will also be responsible for wearing appropriate protective clothing and equipment.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong written and verbal skills.
  • Basic Computer Skills
  • High School Student with work permit if required
  • High School graduate interested in pursuing healthcare career
  • College Student interested in pursuing healthcare degree
  • HIPAA Training /Certification within 30 days of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Additional languages preferred.
  • Administrative and clerical support experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Interviewing residents weekly to identify concerns or questions for the IDT care plan meeting.
  • Reviewing the resident activities calendar daily and assisting the activities director in preparation, conducting, and clean-up during group activities.
  • Visiting and interacting with residents daily.
  • Completing side rail audits weekly.
  • Collecting resident's store list weekly.
  • Distributing items bought at the store to residents weekly.
  • Cleaning and changing oxygen concentrator filters and cleaning the exterior weekly.
  • Cleaning resident IV pumps, feeding pumps, and poles weekly.
  • Auditing emergency supplies (flashlights and batteries) weekly.
  • Communicating appropriately and clearly to supervisor, nurse managers, coworkers, and physicians.
  • Knowing nursing home policies and being familiar with available services.
  • Cleaning and organizing storage rooms weekly.
  • Treating residents and their families with respect and dignity; ensuring confidentiality of residents’ records.
  • Interacting professionally with residents/families and providing explanations and verbal reassurance as necessary.
  • Distributing resident mail daily.
  • Scanning documents into the electronic medical record.
