About The Position

Employee assists with daily resident activities, resident interviews, equipment audits, document filing, and organization of resident rooms, communal areas, and storage areas. The intern will be responsible for interviewing residents weekly to identify concerns or questions that will be reviewed by the IDT in the care plan meeting. They will also be responsible for reviewing the resident activities calendar daily and assisting the activities director in preparation, conducting, and cleaning up during each group activity. Daily interaction with residents is expected, along with weekly completion of side rail audits, collecting resident store lists, distributing store-bought items, cleaning and changing oxygen concentrator filters and exteriors, cleaning resident IV pumps, feeding pumps, and poles, and auditing emergency supplies (flashlights and batteries). The intern will also be responsible for cleaning and organizing storage rooms weekly, distributing resident mail daily, and scanning documents into the electronic medical record. They must communicate appropriately and clearly to supervisors, nurse managers, coworkers, and physicians, and be knowledgeable of nursing home policies and available services. The intern must treat residents and their families with respect and dignity, ensuring the confidentiality of residents' records and interacting professionally with residents/families, providing explanations and verbal reassurance as necessary.

Requirements

  • High School Student with work permit if required
  • High School graduate interested in pursuing healthcare career
  • College Student interested in pursuing healthcare degree
  • Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong written and verbal skills.
  • Basic Computer Skills
  • Performs all job responsibilities in alignment with the mission and vision of the organization.
  • Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self-education, attends ongoing educational programs).
  • Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time.

Responsibilities

  • Auditing our emergency supplies weekly (flashlights and batteries).
  • Communicates appropriately and clearly to supervisor, nurse managers, coworkers and physicians.
  • Knowing nursing home policies and being familiar with services that are available.
  • Cleaning and organizing storage rooms weekly.
  • Treats residents and their families with respect and dignity; ensures confidentiality of residents’ records.
  • Interacts professionally with resident/family and provides explanations and verbal reassurance as necessary.
  • Distributing resident mail daily and other duties as assigned.
  • Scanning documents into the electronic medical record.
