About The Position

This associate role is part of the Corporate Engineering & Technology team supporting Southern Glazer’s national distribution network. The role is designed for early-career talent who wants to solve operational problems through engineering thinking, technology enablement, process improvement, analytics, and solution design. The NextGen Operations Program- Engineering is a one-year rotational development program built to grow future engineering and technology team members who understand how distribution operations run and how to improve them through practical, scalable solutions. Associates will gain exposure to warehouse operations, automation systems, WMS functionality, operational data, system messaging, technology deployments, and the flow of information between business processes, equipment, systems, and integration partners. This program is ideal for someone with a background in engineering, information systems, computer engineering, robotics, industrial engineering, supply chain technology, analytics, or a related field who enjoys solving operational and process problems. The right candidate wants to understand how systems, equipment, people, data, and processes connect, then use that understanding to engineer better ways of working. Throughout the program, you’ll support real initiatives across the distribution network, own hands-on deployment and run-the-business work, spend time on-site with operations, and contribute to projects involving automation functionality, WMS/system integration, process simulation, bottleneck analysis, data science, and predictive modeling.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, systems engineering, robotics, computer engineering, information systems, supply chain technology, data analytics, operations, or a related field
  • Must be a graduating senior or up to 2 years post-graduation
  • Located in or willing to relocate to Miramar, FL or Dallas, TX
  • Must be 21 years old or older at the start of the program
  • Interest in solving operational problems through engineering, process improvement, technology, data, and practical solution design
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to learn how warehouse operations, distribution automation systems, WMS functionality, data flows, and integrations work together
  • Comfort working with data, process maps, system logic, operational workflows, and cross-functional teams
  • Willingness to travel periodically to distribution sites for on-site learning, deployments, operational support, and project work as business needs require.
  • Adaptability and curiosity to succeed in a fast-paced, hands-on operations and technology environment

Nice To Haves

  • Internship, project, or work experience in engineering, supply chain, warehouse operations, automation, information systems, analytics, or process improvement
  • Exposure to simulation software, digital twin concepts, data visualization, predictive modeling, SQL, Python, BI tools, or similar analytical methods
  • Familiarity with warehouse management systems, automation systems, ERP/WMS concepts, systems integrations, or operational reporting
  • Exposure to simulation software, digital twin concepts, data visualization, predictive modeling, AI/ML concepts, SQL, Python, BI tools, or similar analytical methods
  • Experience working on team-based projects that required problem solving, process analysis, data interpretation, or solution recommendations
  • Curiosity about how physical operations and technology systems connect in a distribution environment

Responsibilities

  • Support engineering and technology projects, site deployments, and day-to-day operational technology needs that improve safety, productivity, efficiency, accuracy, and service across distribution operations.
  • Analyze warehouse processes, system data, automation performance, and operational trends to identify bottlenecks, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Help develop scenario models, simulations, dashboards, and decision-support tools that evaluate operational changes and support data-driven recommendations.
  • Partner with operations, engineering, IT, vendors, and business stakeholders to understand requirements, process flows, WMS functionality, integration points, messaging flow, and system impacts.
  • Document current-state and future-state processes, identify gaps, and recommend practical engineering or technology solutions that can be implemented in the field.
  • Review automation and warehouse management system functionality, including order flow, messaging, exception handling, operational impacts, and site support needs.
  • Present findings, recommendations, and business cases to leaders in a clear, concise, and actionable format
