About The Position

Johnson Controls is seeking a NextGen Hardware Engineer for their Controls team, based in Milwaukee, WI. This role is part of an Engineering Training Program designed to provide recent graduates with hands-on experience through rotations across various teams over 14-18 months. Participants will work on meaningful projects, learn from industry professionals, and discover their areas of interest and skill. The program aims to build smarter, healthier, and more sustainable spaces globally. Upon successful completion, participants will transition into full-time roles in areas such as Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Project Management, or Product Management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or related field)
  • Adaptable and open to working across teams and locations
  • Passion for learning, growth, and long-term impact
  • Leadership experience from school, work, or community involvement
  • Strong communication skills-able to explain technical ideas clearly (words + visuals)
  • Comfortable organizing and analyzing data to solve complex problems
  • Team-oriented mindset with proven collaboration experience
  • Experience leveraging AI tools and technologies
  • Willingness to relocate across the U.S.
  • Valid passport for international travel
  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred coursework: thermodynamics, machine design, fluid flow, intro to electrical engineering
  • Internship or Co-op experience is a plus
