About The Position

WCTV, the dominant #1 CBS affiliate in Tallahassee, is looking for our next newscast and streaming producer. Our producers go beyond simply stacking a show. To qualify, you must demonstrate that you possess foundational skills and can creatively craft a rundown. The producer works closely with news managers and anchors to craft our newscasts, which emphasize local content.

Requirements

• Knowledge of video editing and scripting software
• Working knowledge of web and social platforms
• Ability to travel regionally and nationally

Nice To Haves

• 2 years of producing experience in a commercial newsroom is preferred, but entry-level candidates with internship experience or a degree in journalism will be considered

Responsibilities

• Participating in daily editorial meetings and evaluating pitches for potential lead stories
• Ordering stories in the rundown with emphasis on happening now, local, and live elements
• Collaborating with reporters and anchors on story concepts
• Selecting showcase elements, which could include maps, graphics, and video
• Writing scripts with a focus on accuracy and deliverability
• Making graphics and lower thirds for stories (and keeping them free of typos)
