WBZ NewsRadio has an immediate opening for a part time news writer. Shifts to include weekend and holiday mornings. This role is responsible for gathering and producing morning newscasts with fresh sound and news content. The writer will create creative and relevant on-air news copy under continual rolling deadlines, establish relationships with listeners by providing news coverage to targeted demographic audiences, and interview newsmakers, select short soundbytes and write around them for broadcast. The position requires adherence to all guidelines, policies and procedures of the station, iHeartMedia, the FCC and all other federal, state and local laws, including policies and procedures regarding indecency and obscenity. The writer will communicate clearly with editors and other newsroom staff, update social media platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Threads etc., and participate in required station Programming, Promotions, and Sales staff meetings and events. Additionally, the role involves verifying facts, producing news content, and editing actualities for broadcast.
