About The Position

Audacy’s KCBS All News Radio is seeking an intrepid, tech-savvy journalist with a positive attitude and strong work ethic to join its news team. The News Reporter reports from the field or newsroom across multiple KCBS platforms, including radio, the Audacy app, the station website, and social media. The role creates and delivers news content, including live breaking-news coverage, and contributes audio, video, and written material to digital channels.

Requirements

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
A detail-oriented approach and ability to meet tight deadlines.
Proficiency in news gathering using a variety of sources.
Comfort with audio and video editing equipment and programs.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced newsroom or field environment.
Ability to collaborate effectively with editors and producers and pitch stories and interview ideas.
Broadcast journalist background.
Proficiency with content-creation tools across multiple social media channels.
Willingness to work shifts that may include early mornings, evenings, dayside, weekends, and holidays.
Valid driver’s license and satisfactory completion of a motor vehicle record check; proof of insurance is required if the position requires use of the applicant’s own vehicle.

Responsibilities

Report from the field or newsroom across KCBS radio, the Audacy app, the station website, and social media channels.
Conceptualize, pitch, produce, and record news segments.
Gather, write, record, edit, and deliver news content, including live coverage when breaking news occurs.
Interview newsmakers.
Write scripts and ad-lib material for stories.
Use social media during shifts to connect with the community, promote upcoming stories and interviews, and highlight station content.
Contribute audio, video, and written content to the Audacy app and KCBSradio.com.
Develop and research potential news stories.
Protect the station’s FCC license.
Perform other duties as required by management.
