News Producer - Part Time
About The Position
WKBN is looking for an energetic entry‑level producer to help create content for both our television newscasts and our digital streaming platform, WKBN+. This role is ideal for someone currently working toward — or recently completing — a broadcast journalism or communications degree who wants hands-on newsroom experience. You’ll help produce daily newscasts, contribute to WKBN+ shows, pitch story ideas, write and edit content, and collaborate with reporters, anchors, and digital teams. Producers in our newsroom are working journalists who monitor scanners, phones, emails, and digital sources to find and develop stories. We’re looking for someone creative, organized, and eager to learn — someone who can work under deadline pressure and think beyond the obvious to create compelling content across platforms. A motivated journalist who wants to win the big story and is passionate about local news and telling the community’s stories. Youngstown offers great food, great people, and access to Ohio’s largest metro park. Pittsburgh and Cleveland are each about an hour away.
Requirements
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Solid news judgment
- Ability to work independently and multitask
- Familiarity with non‑linear editing a plus
