About The Position

FOX13 Memphis is seeking a versatile, creative, and motivated Multimedia Journalist/Producer passionate about meaningful local journalism. This role combines producing weekend newscasts with working as a Multimedia Journalist three days a week, developing and reporting stories that inform and engage the community. The successful candidate is a strong writer, independent thinker, and collaborative team player who values accuracy, urgency, and audience-focused journalism.

Strong news judgment, editorial decision-making, and storytelling abilities.
Excellent writing skills, including the ability to produce clear, accurate, conversational content.
Strong organizational and time-management skills and the ability to meet multiple deadlines.
Strong on-camera presentation skills and experience with live reporting.
Ability to work under pressure and adapt quickly during breaking news.

Availability to work weekends, holidays, and a flexible schedule based on newsroom needs.
Valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, broadcasting, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Previous television news experience in producing, reporting, or multimedia journalism.
Experience with nonlinear editing systems, newsroom computer systems, and digital publishing platforms.
Demonstrated ability to develop original story ideas and produce engaging news content.

Responsibilities

Write clear, conversational, engaging scripts, headlines, teases, and transitions.
Coordinate with anchors, reporters, assignment editors, and directors to execute broadcasts.
Manage breaking news and developing stories, making timely and accurate editorial decisions under deadline pressure.
Ensure content meets station standards for accuracy, fairness, and journalistic integrity.
Research, pitch, develop, and report original, enterprise-driven stories relevant to Mid-South communities.
Independently shoot, write, edit, and deliver news stories for broadcast and digital platforms.
Develop reliable sources and relationships that support exclusive stories and meaningful coverage.
Conduct interviews, verify information, and explain complex issues clearly.
Deliver live reports and breaking news coverage when assigned.
Meet deadlines while maintaining storytelling, accuracy, and production-quality standards.
Collaborate with newsroom leadership and colleagues to strengthen daily coverage.
Write accurate, engaging digital stories that complement broadcast coverage.
Use digital tools and audience insights to improve storytelling and audience engagement.
Produce weekend newscasts and serve as a Multimedia Journalist three days a week.
