About The Position

WTAP is looking for a News Producer/Anchor for its Monday-Friday morning newscasts. The role involves anchoring the 5:30 am newscast and then producing and anchoring the Noon newscast. The ideal candidate will be a team player and a newsroom leader, comfortable with all broadcast journalism platforms including television, social, and digital media. A strong attitude, ethics, and integrity are essential, along with critical thinking, strong writing skills, and knowledge of current events.

Requirements

• Journalism or Mass Communication degree preferred.
• Strong on-camera delivery with the ability to ad-lib.
• Excellent writing, packaging, and live skills.
• Must be able to report in a broad range of styles with good on-air presentation skills.
• Strong social media presence.
• Writing and copy editing skills.

Responsibilities

• Producer and anchor weekday newscasts.
• Generating unique, compelling, and innovative story/show ideas and content.
• Excellent, creative presentation and writing skills are a must.
• Excellent use of social media for news gathering and community engagement.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Management.
• Make community appearances on behalf of the station.
