News Intern (In-Person) Fall 2026
About The Position
This is an in-person, unpaid internship opportunity at WKRG-TV / wkrg.com in Mobile, Alabama, for the Fall 2026 semester. The program is designed for students to learn by observing and doing, working with experienced professionals, and participating in a diverse cohort. The internship aims to strengthen students' candidacy for full-time positions upon graduation. Interns will be supervised, and their schedules will be arranged based on academic credit requirements and availability to ensure an enriching experience. The community offers various attractions and activities for interns to enjoy outside of work.
Requirements
- Must be a student seeking academic credit for the internship.
- Must be available for an in-person internship at WKRG-TV studios in Mobile, Alabama.
- Must be able to obtain and complete necessary forms for academic credit.
- Must be responsible for own transportation.
- Must have a basic working understanding of AP style & standards for text articles and broadcast scripts.
- Must be prepared to participate nimbly and with flexibility to meet deadlines.
- Must know how to use a timeline-based software editing program like Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro.
- Must be able to capture video, natural sound, and interviews on a phone or camera.

- Students aspiring to careers in News/Journalism (multi-media journalists, reporters, anchors, producers, videographers, etc.).
- Students aspiring to careers that interact with editorial professionals or careers in content marketing, public relations, marketing, and promotions.
- Students majoring in Journalism, Broadcasting, Digital Content, English, Creative Writing, Literature, Pre-Law, Political Science, and Criminal Justice.
