News Assignment Editor
About The Position
KFOX14/CBS4 is seeking a detail-oriented, aggressive, energetic, and creative full-time News Assignment Editor. This role involves assigning and tracking news crews, identifying and developing daily content, and writing and posting content to the station website and social media sites. The ideal candidate will have compelling and accurate writing skills, the ability to monitor scanners, websites, and social media for breaking news, and the capacity to develop and maintain contacts and sources for enterprise story ideas. Assisting in the efficient operations of the assignment desk is also a key responsibility.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of assignment desk experience
- Commitment to journalistic standards of ethics and accuracy
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Basic computer knowledge/word processing skills
- General knowledge and interest in local, national and world news
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
- Proficiency with Facebook, Twitter and emerging social media platforms
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree with a major in journalism is also preferred
