News Assignment Editor (Part-Time)
About The Position
WKRC is seeking a detail-oriented, aggressive, energetic, and creative part-time News Assignment Editor. This role involves assigning and tracking news crews, identifying and developing daily content, and writing and posting content to the station website and social media sites. The ideal candidate will have compelling and accurate writing skills, be able to listen to scanners and react to breaking news, make beat checks, monitor web sites and social media, and react to developing news. Developing and maintaining contacts and sources to enterprise story ideas is also a key responsibility. The role requires the ability to listen for and respond to breaking news and assist in the efficient operations of the assignment desk.
Requirements
- Commitment to journalistic standards of ethics and accuracy
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Basic computer knowledge/word processing skills
- General knowledge and interest in local, national and world news
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
- Proficiency with Facebook, Twitter and emerging social media platforms
