About The Position
WKRC is seeking a detail-oriented, aggressive, energetic, and creative part-time News Assignment Editor. This role involves assigning and tracking news crews, identifying and developing daily content, and writing and posting content to the station website and social media sites. The ideal candidate will have compelling and accurate writing skills, the ability to monitor various news sources for breaking news, and develop and maintain contacts to enterprise story ideas. This position also assists in the efficient operations of the assignment desk.
Requirements
- Commitment to journalistic standards of ethics and accuracy
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Basic computer knowledge/word processing skills
- General knowledge and interest in local, national and world news
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
- Proficiency with Facebook, Twitter and emerging social media platforms
