About The Position

KLKN-TV, the ABC affiliate in Lincoln, Nebraska, is seeking an experienced, dynamic News Anchor with strong journalism, leadership, and a passion for local news. The role takes an active part in shaping newsroom coverage, mentoring staff, and producing compelling content across broadcast, digital, social media, and emerging station platforms. The successful candidate will bring strong editorial judgment, collaborate on stories and initiatives, and embrace innovation.

The News Anchor will anchor newscasts, report and develop original stories, and help guide daily editorial direction and news coverage. The position also contributes to planning, newsgathering, story development, and breaking news coverage; mentors newsroom colleagues; adopts AI-assisted workflows and emerging technologies while maintaining accuracy and editorial oversight; and participates in community events and special projects.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of on-air or online experience as an anchor or reporter.
• Strong on-air presence, conversational delivery, and live reporting skills.
• Excellent writing, storytelling, and editorial judgment.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to mentor and support newsroom colleagues.
• Strong video shooting, editing, and digital content creation skills.
• Experience with social media and understanding of digital audience engagement.
• Willingness to adopt new technologies and AI-assisted workflows.
• Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
• Valid driver's license and clear driving record.

Responsibilities

• Anchor newscasts with engaging and conversational delivery.
• Regularly report, develop original stories, and produce compelling content for broadcast, digital, social media, and other emerging station platforms.
• Work with newsroom leadership to shape daily editorial direction, identify impactful stories, and strengthen news coverage in newscasts and online.
• Guide and mentor producers, MMJs, and other newsroom staff to improve storytelling, newsgathering, writing, and editorial decision-making.
• Take an active role in newscast planning, newsgathering, story development, and breaking news coverage.
• Use AI-assisted workflows and emerging technologies to expand content capabilities and improve workflows while maintaining accuracy and editorial oversight.
• Attend community events and collaborate with other departments on special projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
