About The Position
Gray Media is seeking a PM News Anchor and Streaming Host for KPHO/KTVK in Phoenix. The position anchors live evening newscasts and hosts streaming programs, delivering journalism in a conversational, authoritative, and genuine style across broadcast and digital platforms. The host leads deeper discussions of issues affecting Arizona and reports from both the studio and the field. The role contributes to newsroom editorial leadership by attending meetings, pitching story ideas, and collaborating with producers and managers. It also creates in-depth news and feature content, engages audiences through live digital Q&A, represents the station at community events, and develops local sources. Requirements
- Five years of general on-air news reporting experience.
- Journalistic skills and editorial judgment, with knowledge of editing and photography, or equivalent work experience.
- Ability to work under pressure, adapt to change, meet deadlines, and work well both independently and as part of a team.
- Exceptional communication skills and excellent knowledge of current events.
- Strong writing skills and the ability to edit or rewrite copy quickly.
- Ability to contribute content across multiple digital platforms and engage modern audiences.
- Initiative and willingness to pitch ideas and collaborate.
- Ability to develop and maintain contacts that lead to exclusive news stories.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or Communications is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Anchor live evening newscasts and host streaming shows in a conversational, authoritative, and genuine style.
- Host streaming programs that explore important Arizona issues in depth and foster meaningful conversation.
- Report from the studio and the field with urgency and empathy.
- Attend editorial meetings, pitch story ideas, and collaborate with producers and managers as a newsroom leader.
- Regularly produce promotable, high-impact content, including hard news stories, features, and mini-documentaries.
- Engage audiences through live Q&A segments on digital platforms.
- Represent the station at community events and maintain a network of local sources.
