WBRC 6 News is the leading news station in Central Alabama, delivering breaking news, investigative reporting, and critical First Alert Weather coverage across broadcast, digital, and streaming platforms. At WBRC, you’ll have the opportunity to grow, lead, and make a real impact in a market where the work truly matters. WBRC is looking for an EXPERIENCED Anchor and MMJ. The successful candidate can generate their own story ideas and has a strong track record of enterprise reporting and covering live, breaking news as an MMJ. We're looking for a team player who is an excellent communicator. The successful candidate is a born leader who can anchor, shoot, write, edit, and tell great stories. Ability to work under tight deadlines on a flexible schedule that includes weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Requirements

  • Three years of reporting experience required.
  • Two years of anchoring experience required.
  • Dynamic on-camera energy and delivery with the ability to ad-lib.
  • Excellent writing, packaging, and live skills.
  • Solid news judgment.
  • Must be able to report in a broad range of styles with good on-air presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure.
  • Familiarity with all distribution platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, the Internet, etc.
  • A Bachelor`s Degree in Broadcast Journalism or equivalent is required.
  • A valid driver`s license is required.

Responsibilities

  • Anchor weekend evening newscasts
  • Develop stories and gather information by maintaining contact with sources
  • Respond aggressively and quickly to breaking news
  • Write news stories for newscasts and the web, and post to social media platforms
  • Coordinate crews in the field and communicate updates to news staff and management
  • Strong photography and non-linear editing skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Must have excellent verbal and written skills
  • Must be able to work individually, and/or in a group setting
  • Should show individual initiative and creativity in photography skills
