About The Position

WCTV is looking for a passionate Anchor/MMJ who can also command the anchor desk. The right hire will anchor our highly successful newscasts during the weekend and report 3 days during the week. Tallahassee is a vibrant city, and some of the most desirable beaches are just about an hour away. Here, you’ll travel up and down hilly canopy roads, lined with Live Oaks and Spanish moss. Tallahassee is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, with numerous walking and biking trails. Beautiful beaches are a little more than an hour away.

Requirements

  • Degree in journalism or related field
  • Minimum two years' experience reporting in a commercial newsroom
  • Experience with streaming
  • Non-linear editing experience
  • Passion for journalism and connecting with a community
  • A valid driver's license, good driving record and proof of insurability

Responsibilities

  • Anchor weekend newscasts and other weekday newscasts as assigned, including streaming segments.
  • Work closely with producers to ensure story selection and quality of broadcast are clean, compelling, and consistent
  • Demonstrate ability to connect with viewers and community both on and off the desk
  • Shoot and edit content for newscasts and digital platforms as assigned
  • Generate story ideas and build local contacts
  • Operate portable live units and conduct live shots from the field
