Newborn Hospitalist
About The Position
The Department of Pediatrics at East Tennessee State University (ETSU), Quillen College of Medicine, and Medical Education Assistance Corporation (MEAC), in conjunction with Ballad Health seeks a qualified Newborn Pediatric Hospitalist to join a dynamic team of hospitalists. This position will be an ETSU non-tenure, clinical track faculty appointment (contingent on external funding). Faculty rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. The successful candidate will receive a full benefits package through ETSU. Our region is located at the base of the Appalachian Mountains and offers excellent schools, a low cost of living, and a wealth of outdoor activities.
Requirements
- MD/DO
- BC/BE in pediatrics at time of hire
Nice To Haves
- Demonstrated skill in newborn medicine
- Demonstrated skill in Neonatal Resuscitation and stabilization for transport
- Experience in medical education
- Experience in quality improvement is a plus
- Willingness to perform circumcisions
Responsibilities
- Providing nursery services and delivery attendance at multiple Ballad Health level 1 newborn nurseries in the region, including but not limited to Franklin Woods Community Hospital, Indian Path Community Hospital, and Niswonger Children’s Hospital, the region’s primary pediatric inpatient site.
- Potential daytime rounding on lower acuity level III NICU coverage at Niswonger Children’s Hospital.
- Involvement with quality improvement, patient safety, and medical student and resident education.
