About The Position

The Department of Pediatrics at East Tennessee State University (ETSU), Quillen College of Medicine, and Medical Education Assistance Corporation (MEAC), in conjunction with Ballad Health seeks a qualified Newborn Pediatric Hospitalist to join a dynamic team of hospitalists. This position will be an ETSU non-tenure, clinical track faculty appointment (contingent on external funding). Faculty rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. The successful candidate will receive a full benefits package through ETSU. Our region is located at the base of the Appalachian Mountains and offers excellent schools, a low cost of living, and a wealth of outdoor activities.

Requirements

  • MD/DO
  • BC/BE in pediatrics at time of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated skill in newborn medicine
  • Demonstrated skill in Neonatal Resuscitation and stabilization for transport
  • Experience in medical education
  • Experience in quality improvement is a plus
  • Willingness to perform circumcisions

Responsibilities

  • Providing nursery services and delivery attendance at multiple Ballad Health level 1 newborn nurseries in the region, including but not limited to Franklin Woods Community Hospital, Indian Path Community Hospital, and Niswonger Children’s Hospital, the region’s primary pediatric inpatient site.
  • Potential daytime rounding on lower acuity level III NICU coverage at Niswonger Children’s Hospital.
  • Involvement with quality improvement, patient safety, and medical student and resident education.
