Newborn Hearing Screening Tech performs hearing screening on newborns using an automated computer-based screener, reports results to parents and clinicians, arranges post-discharge follow-up as needed, and assists with database management. This position is fully on‑site and located at BIDMC East Campus. The ideal candidate will have prior healthcare or newborn experience; however, candidates without direct healthcare experience who are currently studying nursing or another health‑related field will also be considered. Shift availability is required seven days a week, with flexibility in the specific days worked. Shifts average four hours in length. Job Description: Essential Responsibilities: Accurately identifies, locates, and transports newborns who need hearing screenings. Prepares babies for testing and performs automated auditory brainstem response tests. Document hearing screening results in the medical record. Appropriately informs nursery staff, physicians, and parents of hearing screening results. Schedules follow-up hearing evaluations, as needed. Identifies the need for limited equipment maintenance. Maintains supply distribution to multiple equipment locations. Assists in hearing screening data and database management. Performs daily charge entry into the clinical computing system.
