About The Position

Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is seeking a Hearing Screener - Newborn / Infant (Per Diem) to join the group at NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi and North Central Bronx. Jacobi Medical Center is a 457-bed, Level I Trauma Center and North Central Bronx Hospital (NCB) has 213 licensed beds. Jacobi and NCB are respected leaders in emergency medicine, trauma surgery, burn care, pediatrics, primary care, and women’s health, maintaining a strong academic affiliation with Albert Einstein College of Medicine. This role involves performing newborn hearing screenings, documenting results, and confirming or rescheduling outpatient appointments.

Requirements

High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
Ability to handle newborns in nursery.
Ability to explain and describe tests to parents.
Ability to make decisions with regards to which babies need to be screened, which are able to be screened, how long to spend screening each baby, and when to end a screening when the testing conditions are not adequate.

Responsibilities

Performing newborn hearing screenings in both the Well-Baby and NICU nurseries, as well as in the mother’s hospital room.
Documenting results in the electronic medical record.
Confirming or rescheduling outpatient appointments.
Communicating with Director of Audiology, Audiologists, fellow Hearing Screeners and support staff on a daily basis with any problems, questions, or comments.
