New Graduate Registered Nurse (RN) Oncology
About The Position
This role is for a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Hematology Oncology and Oncology ICU at Carolinas Medical Center. The unit has 30 beds, with 8 capable of ICU care. Nurses will care for patients with Leukemia, Lymphoma, and Multiple Myeloma, managing their treatment from initial diagnosis through chemotherapy administration and complications requiring admission. The ICU beds are for oncology patients needing a higher level of care, including hematology, solid tumor, and post-stem cell transplant patients. Patients often have multiple admissions or extended stays, leading to strong relationships between staff, patients, and families.
Requirements
- Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
- Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
Responsibilities
- Provide and coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process.
- Deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
- Utilize evidence-based practice, clinical decision-making, compassion, and communication skills.
- Lead efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience across the continuum.
