About The Position

MetroWest Medical Center is seeking new graduate Registered Nurses (RNs) for their Emergency Department RN Residency Cohort, starting August 31. This program is designed for nurses who have prior Emergency Department experience (including EMTs, ED Technicians, and Paramedics) or new graduates who completed a senior practicum or capstone in the ED. The residency offers a fast-paced, supportive environment with expert mentorship, hands-on learning, and a collaborative team to develop confidence and critical thinking skills for emergency nursing. The 12-month program focuses on creating a solid foundation, developing delegation and priority-setting skills, holistic patient care through interdisciplinary communication, and establishing professional relationships. Residents will experience different shifts, patient populations, and unit cultures. MetroWest Medical Center is the largest community health care system between Worcester and Boston, comprising Framingham Union Hospital, Leonard Morse Hospital, and the MetroWest Wellness Center. It has been recognized by Healthgrades as one of America's 100 Best Hospitals.

Requirements

  • Active RN license prior to the start date.
  • Graduated from state approved school of nursing or an accredited school, or currently enrolled in nursing school with a graduation date within the next 6 months.
  • Currently licensed, certified, or registered to practice profession as required by law, regulation in state of practice or policy.
  • CPR certification.
  • Must successfully complete a background check and pre-employment health screening which includes a drug screen.
  • Proof of full vaccination or an approved religious or medical exemption for COVID-19 vaccination prior to start date, with regular testing if an exemption is granted.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Emergency Department experience, including EMTs, ED Technicians, and Paramedics.
  • New graduate nurses who completed a senior practicum or capstone experience in the Emergency Department.

Responsibilities

  • Will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide safe and competent patient care.
  • Will specifically, assume responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing direct nursing care to assigned patients.
  • Will also assume responsibility for the supervision of staff to which nursing care is appropriately delegated.
