Position Summary The New Graduate Furnace Mechanical Engineer is an entry-level engineering position designed for recent Mechanical Engineering graduates interested in developing their careers within furnace engineering, energy technology, and large-scale engineering projects. In this role, you will work alongside experienced engineers supporting Technip Energies’ proprietary olefins pyrolysis furnace projects. You will gain hands-on experience supporting projects through Process Design Package (PDP), Front-End Engineering Design (FEED), and detailed engineering phases. The position provides exposure to furnace mechanical design, engineering calculations, equipment specifications, material requisitions, vendor documentation, procurement activities, and multidisciplinary project execution. You will receive technical guidance and mentorship from experienced furnace engineers while gradually developing the technical knowledge and project experience necessary to take on increasing levels of responsibility.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) from an accredited university
Recent graduate or anticipated graduate with 0–2 years of professional engineering experience
Strong academic foundation in mechanical engineering principles
Basic understanding of mechanical design, thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, mechanics of materials, and/or materials engineering
Ability and willingness to learn engineering codes, standards, specifications, and company procedures
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality engineering work
Demonstrated willingness to learn, ask questions, accept feedback, and take on increasing responsibility
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship

Nice To Haves

Internship, co-op, research, or project experience within mechanical engineering, energy, petrochemical, refining, manufacturing, EPC, or a related industry
Academic coursework or project experience involving heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, mechanical design, pressure systems, or materials
Exposure to engineering software, CAD applications, or mechanical design tools
Familiarity with ASME Codes or API standards through coursework, internships, or academic projects
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or interest in pursuing EIT/Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
Interest in furnace technology, petrochemical processes, energy systems, and large-scale engineering projects

Responsibilities

Support mechanical engineering activities associated with proprietary olefins pyrolysis furnace projects
Assist experienced engineers with furnace mechanical engineering activities during PDP, FEED, and detailed engineering phases
Assist in the preparation of mechanical datasheets, engineering specifications, material requisitions, scope of supply documents, and bills of material
Support the review of vendor drawings, calculations, and technical documentation
Assist with technical evaluations of furnace equipment and mechanical components
Support technical bid evaluations and procurement activities under the guidance of senior engineers
Perform basic engineering calculations and technical analyses
Assist in responding to technical questions from project teams, vendors, clients, and other engineering disciplines
Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and technical discussions
Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to support successful project execution
Assist with maintaining engineering documentation, calculations, specifications, and project records
Support domestic and international furnace projects as required
Participate in field or site activities when required to gain practical project and equipment experience
Develop an understanding of Technip Energies’ proprietary furnace technologies, engineering practices, and project execution processes
Work under the direction and mentorship of experienced furnace mechanical engineers
Actively participate in technical training and professional development opportunities
Develop working knowledge of furnace mechanical systems, equipment, materials, and engineering practices
Collaborate with mechanical, process, piping, structural, electrical, instrumentation, procurement, and project engineering teams
Seek guidance when necessary and incorporate feedback into engineering work
Communicate project progress, technical questions, and potential issues to supervising engineers
Develop the technical and professional skills necessary to take on increasing engineering responsibility
Contribute to a collaborative, safety-focused, and high-performing engineering environment
Perform engineering work in accordance with applicable company procedures, project requirements, and engineering standards
Develop familiarity with applicable ASME Codes, API standards, and other industry requirements
Support quality assurance and engineering review processes
Ensure assigned engineering deliverables are accurate, complete, and properly documented
Maintain project files and engineering records in accordance with project requirements
Follow established engineering workflows, document control procedures, and quality standards
Support the identification and communication of technical issues, project changes, and potential engineering risks
