About The Position

SpaceX is hiring a New Graduate Engineer, Electrical, for its Starlink satellite program. Starlink is a broadband internet system that SpaceX designs, builds, tests, and operates, including satellites, consumer receivers, and supporting software. The role involves developing electrical hardware across the hardware life cycle and collaborating across electrical, mechanical, thermal, software, and antenna/RF engineering disciplines. Team placement is determined during interviews based on technical fit, expertise, and candidate preference. Possible teams include Avionics, Payload, Gateways, Hardware Test, Hardware Development, On-Orbit Reliability, and Enterprise & Government. Work may involve satellite avionics and power distribution, phased arrays and modem electronics, ground-station electronics, validation and testing, hardware failure analysis, on-orbit anomaly investigation, or solutions for aviation, maritime, and defense operations. The position offers a stated base-pay range of $105,000–$145,000 for Level 1 or $120,000–$175,000 for Level 2. Actual level and salary depend on job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience. The compensation package may also include long-term incentives, discretionary bonuses, and an employee stock purchase plan. SpaceX describes the role as having comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, a 401(k), disability and life insurance, paid parental leave, discounts and perks, accrued paid vacation, and paid holidays. Washington employees accrue paid sick time under applicable law. Shuttles are offered for round-trip travel from select Seattle locations to the Redmond office Monday through Friday. Applicants must meet U.S. export-control eligibility requirements: be a U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee, or be eligible to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, physics, or another STEM discipline.
  • At least 1 year of experience in circuit, electronic product, or hardware design or analysis; internships, co-ops, and club projects may count.
  • Graduating in winter 2026 or spring/summer 2027.
  • Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
  • Must satisfy the stated U.S. government export-control eligibility requirements or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a similar engineering discipline.
  • Experience designing electronic products from concept through production, especially full life-cycle development of new hardware rather than small incremental updates to legacy hardware.
  • Experience designing and implementing mixed-signal circuit boards from concept through production using processors, FPGAs, Ethernet, multi-GHz SerDes, DRAM interfaces such as DDR4, I2C, SPI, RF/mm-wave, operational amplifiers, ADCs, DACs, and power-supply components.
  • Experience testing, troubleshooting, and debugging electronics.
  • Strong understanding of computers and programming languages such as Python and C/C++.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a highly cross-functional role.
  • Experience working on space-grade hardware.

Responsibilities

  • Rapidly develop high-reliability electronics for satellites and spacecraft.
  • Drive system trade studies, requirements capture, component selection, analysis, schematic capture, PCB layout, prototyping, hardware bring-up, debugging, documentation, manufacturing, testing, and on-orbit performance of complex electrical designs.
  • Provide hands-on hardware support through production, satellite integration, and flight.
  • Collaborate with engineers in adjacent disciplines, including mechanical, thermal, software, test engineering, supply chain, and silicon design.
  • Depending on team placement, design, develop, test, validate, support, and investigate Starlink satellite, gateway, or related electronics.

Benefits
