New Graduate Engineer, Electrical - Satellites (Starlink)

SpaceX•Redmond, WA
•$105,000 - $175,000

About The Position

SpaceX is hiring a New Graduate Engineer, Electrical, to develop electrical hardware for Starlink satellites and related systems. Electrical design engineers own hardware across its life cycle and work at the intersection of electrical, mechanical, thermal, software, and antenna/RF engineering. Work may involve high-speed digital communications, analog systems, network integration, power electronics, avionics, network computers, failure analysis, on-orbit reliability, test automation, and RF devices. Placement is determined during the interview process based on technical fit, expertise, and candidate preference. Potential teams include Avionics, Payload, Gateways, Hardware Test, Hardware Development, On-Orbit Reliability, and Enterprise & Government. The role involves developing high-reliability electronics, supporting hardware through production and satellite integration, and collaborating across engineering disciplines to deliver integrated hardware.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, physics, or another STEM discipline.
  • At least 1 year of experience in circuit, electronic product, or hardware design/analysis; internships, co-ops, and club projects may count.
  • Graduating in winter 2026 or spring/summer 2027.
  • Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a similar engineering discipline.
  • Experience designing electronic products from concept through production, especially full life-cycle development of new hardware products rather than small incremental updates to legacy hardware.
  • Experience designing and implementing mixed-signal circuit boards from concept through production using processors, FPGAs, Ethernet, multi-GHz SerDes, DRAM interfaces (DDR4), I2C, SPI, RF/mm, operational amplifiers, analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters, and power supply components.
  • Experience testing, troubleshooting, and debugging electronics.
  • Strong understanding of computers and programming languages such as Python and C/C++.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a highly cross-functional role.
  • Experience working on space-grade hardware.

Responsibilities

  • Rapidly develop high-reliability electronics for satellites and spacecraft.
  • Drive system trades, requirements capture, component selection, analysis, schematic capture, PCB layout, prototyping, hardware bring-up, debugging, documentation, manufacturing, testing, and evaluation of on-orbit performance for complex electrical designs.
  • Provide hands-on hardware support through production, satellite integration, and flight.
  • Collaborate with engineers in mechanical, thermal, software, test engineering, supply chain, silicon design, and other disciplines.
  • Challenge assumptions, question requirements, learn from mistakes, and approach problems with an open mind.

Benefits

  • Potential long-term incentives in the form of company stock or long-term cash awards.
  • Potential discretionary bonuses.
  • Employee Stock Purchase Plan allowing employees to purchase additional stock at a discount.
