About The Position

We are looking to develop the next generation of retail leadership at Sprouts Farmers Market – a Fortune 500 company and one of the fastest growing retailers in the United States. This program will focus on the development of Assistant Store Managers (ASM), who are key in assisting with the efficient and profitable operations of the store. In the absence of the Store Manager, the Assistant Store Manager assumes complete responsibility for all phases of store operations.

Requirements

Obtain or be in pursuit of a Bachelor's Degree (targeting May 2026 through May 2027 graduates)
Retail experience or project exposure to the retail industry
Dependable and reliable
Ability to work a flexible schedule that changes as the business changes; including nights, weekends and holidays
Flexibility with store assignments
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to give direction
Ability to participate in a team environment
Outgoing and friendly behavior along with a positive attitude
Ability to interact with customers in an engaging manner
Proven leadership ability to build, motivate and maintain staff
Working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers and financial goals
Strong focus on detail, analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to coordinate sales promotion activities
Prepare/supervise preparation of merchandise displays and advertising copy
Maintain Food Safety certification
Strong organization and planning skills
Able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks
Ability to lift moderately heavy loads up to 75 lbs.
Ability to bend, reach, kneel, squat and stand for long periods of time

Nice To Haves

Within one year of graduation from a full-time bachelors or masters degree program
Graduation requirement: May 2026 – May 2027
10 weeks of in-store leadership and department specific training followed by 10 weeks of on-the-job shadowing.

Responsibilities

Assist the Store Manager in ensuring cleanliness, safety, and a well-stocked inventory.
Assist with forecasts, schedules, and monitor labor to be consistent with store sales and productivity guidelines and wage budgets.
Create action plans to address cost control issues.
Direct, oversee, and evaluate the training of all perishable department Team Members to reduce and control turnover, promote more efficient operations, and provide better control over labor costs.
Develop and maintain communication with other departments and the Store Manager to execute merchandising plans that help meet the financial objectives of the store.
Manage department staff, including interviewing, hiring, training and development, delivering on-time performance appraisals, providing feedback, scheduling, counseling, and terminating.
Ensure dates on merchandise are checked and expired food is pulled off shelves regularly.
Deal with emergencies, crises, and any problems that arise during the day in the store.
Write reports for accidents or other incidents.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and company regulations and standards for labor, health, safety, and sanitation issues.
Maintain a safe and clean work environment for employees and customers.
Ensure compliance with all OSHA requirements, other governmental regulations, and company standards.
