About The Position

We are looking to develop the next generation of retail leadership at Sprouts Farmers Market – a Fortune 500 company and one of the fastest growing retailers in the United States. As you explore this opportunity within the Sprouts University Program, you’ll see that our goal is to bring in high caliber talent and equip you with the resources you need to grow your career with us. This program will focus on the development of Assistant Store Managers (ASM), who are key in assisting with the efficient and profitable operations of the store. In the absence of the Store Manager, the Assistant Store Manager assumes complete responsibility for all phases of store operations. Program Start Date: January 2027 and June 2027. Hiring locations: Tennessee (actual store location to be determined). Eligibility: You are within one year of graduation from a full-time bachelors or masters degree program. Graduation requirement: May 2026 – May 2027. Onboarding process: 10 weeks of in-store leadership and department specific training followed by 10 weeks of on-the-job shadowing. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this opportunity.

Requirements

• Obtain or be in pursuit of a Bachelor's Degree (targeting May 2026 through May 2027 graduates)
• Retail experience or project exposure to the retail industry
• Dependable and reliable, having the ability to work a flexible schedule that changes as the business changes; including nights, weekends and holidays as well as having flexibility with store assignments.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to give direction, while participating in a team environment.
• Outgoing and friendly behavior along with a positive attitude and the ability to interact with our customers in an engaging manner.
• Proven leadership ability to build, motivate and maintain staff, while possessing a working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers and financial goals.
• Strong focus on detail, analytical and problem solving skills.
• Food Safety certification.
• Strong organization and planning skills; able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
• Ability to lift moderately heavy loads up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to bend, reach, kneel, squat and stand for long periods of time.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Store Manager in ensuring cleanliness, safety, and a well-stocked inventory.
• Assist with forecasts, schedules, and monitor labor to be consistent with store sales and productivity guidelines and wage budgets.
• Create action plans to address cost control issues.
• Direct, oversee, and evaluate the training of all perishable department Team Members to reduce and control turnover, promote more efficient operations, and provide better control over labor costs.
• Develop and maintain communication with other departments and the Store Manager to execute merchandising plans that help meet the financial objectives of the store.
• Manage department staff, including interviewing, hiring, training and development, delivering on-time performance appraisals, providing feedback, scheduling, counseling, and terminating.
• Coordinate sales promotion activities and prepare/supervise preparation of merchandise displays and advertising copy.
• Ensure dates on merchandise are checked and expired food is pulled off shelves on a regular basis.
• Deal with emergencies, crises, and any problems that crop up during the day in the store.
• Write reports for accidents or other incidents such as when employees or customers are hurt within the store or in the parking lot and process according to company procedures.
• Ensure that all federal, state, and company regulations and standards for all labor, health, safety, and sanitation issues are maintained to ensure compliance with all OSHA requirements, other governmental regulations, and company standards.
