About The Position

The New Grad RN Resident provides nursing care on Indian River Hospital’s 5S Orthopaedic Unit, which cares for patients with bone, joint, and connective tissue conditions and disorders. The resident delivers care throughout the patient journey, works directly with patients and families, and provides healthcare education as needed. The role includes participation in a residency core curriculum and access to professional development resources such as education opportunities, committee participation, and online and in-person courses.

The position is based at Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital in Vero Beach, Florida. The caregiver works days, with the listed schedule of 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.; the detailed shift hours are 6:45 a.m. to 7:15 p.m. The schedule includes every other weekend and some holidays.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing (Diploma, ADN, or BSN program).
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
• New graduate RN or less than one year of RN work experience.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Responsibilities

• Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs.
• Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.
• Establish and/or revise patient-care priorities based on acuity of need, patient preference, and resource availability.
• Initiate and/or maintain interventions to assure continuity of safe and effective patient care.
• Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce, or prevent risk.
• Seek supervision, consultation, and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.
• Document in patients’ medical records.
• Interact directly with patients and their families and provide healthcare education as needed.
