This position is eligible for shift differential of $5/hour. Mercy Hospital’s 10M Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Stepdown Unit provides care to higher acuity pulmonology and cardiac patients. These patients may require telemonitoring or hardwire monitors and may have trachs, vents and IV drips (non-titrate). Many of these patients go to Interventional Radiology, Cardiac Diagnostics, the Cath Lab and MRI. By joining 10M as an RN Resident, you will provide care to these patients, alongside a coach. In this role, you will interact directly with patients and their families, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross upon hire or within first year of employment
  • New graduate RN OR less than one year of RN work experience

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Responsibilities

  • Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs.
  • Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.
  • Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patient preference and resource availability).
  • Initiate and/or maintain interventions to assure continuity of safe/effective care for patients.
  • Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce or prevent risk.
  • Seek supervision, consultation and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.
  • Document in patients’ medical records.
