Cardiovascular Medicine Stepdown Unit – J81 This dynamic 25-bed cardiology stepdown unit is where skilled nurses provide high-acuity, specialized care to a diverse population of cardiac patients. From acute myocardial infarction and post-cardiac interventions to chronic heart failure and complex dysrhythmia management, our team plays a critical role in guiding patients through some of their most vulnerable moments. This fast-paced, collaborative environment offers the opportunity to build advanced cardiac skills, work closely with interdisciplinary teams, and make a meaningful impact every day. This unit also supports med-surg overflow, giving staff a well-rounded experience and continuous opportunities for growth.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • New grad OR less than one year RN work experience
  • If in a Critical Care area an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross certification must be presented upon hire or within first year of employment

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Responsibilities

  • Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs.
  • Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.
  • Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patient preference, and resource availability).
  • Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce or prevent risk.
  • Seek supervision, consultation, and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.
  • Document in patients’ medical records.
