About The Position

Duke University Health System - Duke Regional Hospital seeks to hire an experienced Registered Nurse who will embrace our mission of Advancing Health Together. The Labor & Delivery Unit at Duke Regional Hospital is comprised of 17-beds and delivers an average of 200 patients each month. This is a Level 2 facility delivering patients 32 weeks gestation and up, with 24/7 in-house OB, neonatal, and anesthesia provider coverage. The unit focuses on serving our community and partnering with families to create a safe and respectful birth environment. High-tech maternity care is provided in a unit with a lot of tenure and a close-knit family environment. Ideal candidates will be able to function as part of a large multidisciplinary team in a shared governance environment and have a passion for family-centered care.

Requirements

  • Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina.
  • BLS required.
  • Work requires graduation from an accredited BSN program.
  • All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) are encouraged to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date but must complete the BSN program within seven years of their start date.
  • Work requires graduation from an accredited Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program.
  • No experience required.
  • All CNIs will be enrolled in and must complete the DUHS Vizient Nurse Residency Program within 12 months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer applicants with labor & delivery, critical care, or acute care experience.

Responsibilities

  • Providing and supervising direct and indirect total nursing care responsibilities.
  • Utilizing the nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating) in achieving the goals of the nursing department.
  • Planning and providing advanced and/or specialized nursing care for patients.
  • Guided by DUHS Professional Practice model.
  • Participating in the clinical ladder program, educational activities, departmental committees, research projects or other health-related projects as assigned.
  • Providing nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the scope of the RN as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
  • Adhering to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies.
  • Actively participating in outstanding customer service and accepting responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
