About The Position

Join MaineGeneral's SHINE Residency as a new graduate nurse (RN) in the Behavioral Health track. This program is designed to provide comprehensive training and support to help you succeed as an integral part of our clinical team. The residency is the largest of its kind in the state and offers a unique opportunity to expand your knowledge and skills. Qualified candidates can receive an early acceptance incentive of $4000, paid in full in their first paycheck. Candidates must apply at least 6 weeks before their graduation date, and offer letters should be signed within 1 week of receipt.

Requirements

  • Expected graduation from an accredited Nursing school in the Fall/Winter of 2026/2027 or less than 6 months of RN experience.
  • Maine state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or the ability to obtain it after passing the NCLEX.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care aligned with professional standards and organizational values.
  • Participate in a comprehensive 12-week orientation across various med/surg units.
  • Work independently on med/surg units for 6 weeks after initial orientation.
  • Transition to Behavioral Health to begin specialized orientation.
  • Engage in clinical training, classroom sessions, and online learning throughout the year-long program.
  • Attend monthly professional growth classes with the residency cohort.
