About The Position

We are seeking a New Construction Technician/Handyman to manage and complete construction and renovation projects across our Hamilton region at Community First Solutions. In this role, you’ll work closely with our Senior Director of Construction Management to prioritize projects, execute plans with precision, and ensure quality, efficiency, and timeliness. This is a primarily hands-on, fast-paced role - with opportunity to grow - where problem-solving and a proactive attitude come together to create safe, welcoming environments for our residents and staff.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must have a valid drivers license and ability to maintain active auto insurance.
  • Minimum of three years experience working in a construction or maintenance-related field preferred
  • Possess mechanical aptitude
  • Possess advanced knowledge of plumbing, electricity, HVAC, and carpentry
  • Possess ability to interpret blueprints and read and comprehend operating manuals
  • Basic working knowledge with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and other internet applications
  • Able to effectively communicate with the Director of Construction, various employees, and subcontractors as needed.
  • Experience doing light electrical work
  • Experience doing light plumbing work
  • Experience with cabinetry, trim and demolition.
  • Must be able to work as a member of a team
  • Ability to effectively and safely operate all equipment
  • Possess and exemplify a high level of customer service
  • Trustworthy and dependable, able to take direction and execute projects as planned.

  • Safety-conscious, able to work indoors or outdoors in all weather conditions, on rooftops, and on ladders safely.
  • Communicate effectively with directors, subcontractors, and team members to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Thrive in a physically demanding environment, capable of lifting 60 lbs, standing, walking, and stooping for extended periods.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Word, Outlook, and basic internet applications.
  • Hold a valid driver’s license and maintain active auto insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Performs tasks necessary to maintain quality standards of independent living homes.
  • Conduct formal walkthroughs identifying risk and safety control throughout our community.
  • Serve as move-in coordinator for new residents setting up cable and internet, unit readiness, and addressing homeowner concerns with a high level of costumer service.
  • Create and complete punch list items, demolition and cleanup for construction projects.
  • Assist in planning and managing various construction and remodeling projects throughout multiple campuses
  • Work cooperatively with subcontractors on various projects
  • Calculate and obtain materials as needed for various projects
  • Able to problem solve and prioritize work based on deadlines.
  • Complete tasks independently in a professional and courteous manner
  • Maintain quality standards as expressed by CFS Management
  • Maintain clean and safe work environment

  • All other duties as assigned and appropriate for the position
