•$124,000 - $171,000•Onsite

About The Position

Applied Materials is a global leader in materials science and engineering solutions, crucial for new semiconductor chips and advanced displays. The equipment we create and service is essential for advancing AI and accelerating the commercialization of next-generation semiconductor chips. This role involves leveraging a strong foundation in physics, mathematics, and materials science to process and resolve mechanical problems, design and implement custom mechanical tooling and associated processes, and enable the handling, assembly, and disassembly of parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies throughout the product life cycle. The engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and modifying mechanical engineering layouts, schematics, and specifications, overseeing manufacturing and installation processes, and coordinating the procurement and assembly of mechanical components and equipment.

Requirements

  • Doctorate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related field
  • Familiarity with the basic theories and concepts of mechanical engineering

Nice To Haves

  • Ideal candidates will be available to start full time and participate in our Semiconductor Product Group's New College Graduate training cohort in July 2027
  • Experience in semiconductor fab or equipment industry

Responsibilities

  • Design or modify basic mechanical engineering layouts, schematics, or drawings/specifications under direct supervision
  • Coordinate the procurement and assembly of mechanical components and equipment for design projects; identify sources of critical parts and subsystems to resolve basic technical issues
