Neurosurgery Physician Assistant
About The Position
This locum tenens Physician Assistant role provides in-house, call-only neurosurgery coverage in an inpatient setting in New Port Richey, Florida. Coverage is needed Monday through Thursday from 9:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., beginning ASAP and continuing ongoing. The position supports adult neurosurgery patients, with an average daily volume of 10 patients and both rounding and consultations. Phone consultations are listed as 0–25. The case mix is neurosurgery, with specialty backup from four neurosurgeons and support from one RN, one MA, four APPs, and three office staff. Cerner is the facility's EMR system. Hospital privileges are required, and temporary privileges are available. Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are covered by the agency.
Requirements
- Board certified.
- Florida license or IMLC.
- BLS certification.
- ACLS certification.
- At least one year of neurosurgery APP experience.
- Hospital privileges are required; temporary privileges are available.

Responsibilities
- Provide in-house neurosurgery coverage during night shifts Monday through Thursday, 9:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
- Manage and treat adult neurosurgery patients, including acute care and consultations.
- Collaborate with attending neurosurgeons and the advanced practice provider team.
- Perform patient assessments, order diagnostic tests, and implement treatment plans.
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and ensure continuity of care.
