About The Position
This is an ongoing coverage need for a Neurosurgery Physician Assistant (PA) at a Level II trauma center, 600-bed facility. The role involves inpatient and call coverage, working alongside 5 Neurosurgeons and 4 Advanced Practice Providers (APPs). The position requires full-time coverage, Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM, with rotating call coverage (1:4/1:5). The patient population includes adults and geriatrics. The facility uses EPIC as its EMR system. Credentialing is expected to take 30-60 days.
Requirements
- Active Florida licensure
- Board certification
- AHA BLS and ACLS certifications
- Minimum 1-year Neurosurgery experience or equivalent
- Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree from an accredited program
- Active and unencunbered physician assistant (PA) license in Florida
- National certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- At least one year of experience in a clinical setting relevant to their specialty
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests
- Prescribe medications and manage chronic conditions
- Provide patient education and counseling on healthy lifestyle choices
- Perform procedures as permitted by state regulations and APP specialty
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
- Document patient care accurately and thoroughly
