About The Position

This is an ongoing coverage need for a Neurosurgery Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in a well-established, high-volume practice. The practice includes 5 Surgeons and 4 APPs and is located at a Level 2 trauma center. The role involves inpatient rounding with night call on a 7 on/7 off schedule, with rotating night and weekend call. The patient population includes all ages. The facility uses Cerner EMR. Credentialing typically takes 30-60 days.

Requirements

• Active Florida licensure
• Board certification
• AHA BLS and ACLS certifications
• Minimum 1-year Neurosurgery experience or equivalent
• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree focused on an NP specialty (e.g., family practice, adult-gerontology, pediatrics) OR Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree from an accredited program
• Active and unencumbered advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) license in Florida OR Active and unencumbered physician assistant (PA) license in Florida
• National certification as an NP in a relevant specialty area by a recognized certifying body (e.g., American Academy of Nurse Practitioners [AANP]) OR National certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
• Strong clinical knowledge and assessment skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients
• Proficiency in performing physical examinations and procedures relevant to their specialty
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to diagnose and manage complex medical conditions
• Time management skills to efficiently manage a patient workload
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a healthcare team

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests
• Prescribe medications and manage chronic conditions
• Provide patient education and counseling on healthy lifestyle choices
• Perform procedures as permitted by state regulations and APP specialty
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
• Document patient care accurately and thoroughly
