Neurosurgery Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA)
About The Position
United Health Services (UHS) is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or a Physician Assistant (PA) for the Department of Neurosurgery at UHS Wilson Medical Center. The candidate will join a team of 5 Neurosurgeons and 7 APPs. The Hospital is a Level II trauma center and Comprehensive Stroke Center with 450 beds. The practice is a high functioning practice performing 1,200 + cases/year with excellent hospital support and a wide referral network spanning a 120 mile radius. This position provides health care services to patients under the direction and responsibility of a physician. Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examination, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination. Administers and orders diagnostic test and interprets the test results for deviations from normal. Performs therapeutic procedures, such as injections, suturing and wound care, and managing infection. Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, and assists in provision of continuity of care. Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens and health maintenance. Our Neurosurgeons provide comprehensive neurosurgery, including complex adult spine and cranial neurosurgery. Actively supported by neuro-endovascular, pain management/non-operative spine, neuro critical care, and neuro-radiology services. Clinical highlights include dedicated Neuro OR team (24/7) with block time 5 days/week, Stealth Station Navigation, Intraoperative Monitoring team, 3T MRI with in-house Neuro Radiology, Neuro Critical Care service, and bi-plane angiography lab. UHS Wilson Medical Center provides general medical clinic services such as surgical, rehabilitative, and emergency care to the people of greater Binghamton (estimated population of 235,000+). The UHS Medical Group is a professional corporation and multi-specialty group medical practice consisting of over 540 practitioners. The physicians and other providers encompass a number of medical and surgical specialties at locations throughout Broome, Chenango, Delaware, Otsego and Tioga Counties.
Requirements
- Seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in Neurosurgery or Spine Surgery for this new role open due to department growth.
Nice To Haves
- Preference for previous Neurosurgery or Spine Surgery experience.
- Preferred credentials are ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support). Will provide courses upon employment.
