About The Position

UofL Health/UofL Physicians Group is seeking an APRN for their neurosurgery team. The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) facilitates the delivery of quality, evidenced-based patient care, while promoting efficiency and effective patient outcomes of Neurosurgical patients. They will demonstrate expert clinical decision-making related to neurosurgical health care related issues and diagnosis. The APRN will function in collaboration with the neurosurgery physician group in the care of adult patients with critical illness. They will perform physical exams, collect and document data, organize diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, order and schedule laboratory studies and professional consults, prescribe appropriate interventions and medications, and provide direct patient care services in the neurosurgical critical care setting. The APRN will contribute to excellence in patient care, research, teaching, consulting and provide leadership within the organization and the nursing profession.

Requirements

Master of Nursing degree from an accredited institution.
Current licensure in state of Kentucky as an APRN.
National certification as an Adult Nurse Practitioner, Emergency Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner, or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.
Current DEA certificate without restriction.
Current BLS.
Must be ACLS Certified.

Responsibilities

Provides assessment, management and outcome evaluation for patients in inpatient and outpatient settings.
Serves as a resource to educate patients, families, professional nurses, and staff.
Functions as a liaison between patient, family and UofL Physicians staff.
Participates in clinical research.
Demonstrates an advanced level of medical and nursing knowledge, clinical and technical competency, sound clinical judgment, professionalism as it relates to interpersonal and general communication skills, timely and compliant documentation, and takes responsibility for ongoing professional development and competency validation.
