About The Position

This is a postdoctoral residency in clinical neuropsychology at Saint Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center (SJHMC) in Phoenix, AZ. The resident will be responsible for the accurate administration and scoring of neuropsychological tests, report writing, and patient interviewing. Daily activities include applying knowledge of brain-behavior relationships through didactic seminars, contributing to clinical research projects, analyzing patient records and clinical findings, and potentially providing rehabilitation interventions. The role requires effective communication of neuropsychological findings and their implications to patients and families. Success in this role depends on precision in assessment and documentation, strong analytical and communication skills, and the ability to integrate clinical knowledge for patient care, research, and education in neuropsychology.

Requirements

  • PhD or PsyD in clinical neuropsychology, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, or medical psychology from an APA or CPA accredited program.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and score neuropsychological tests with accuracy.
  • Write neuropsychological reports.
  • Conduct careful interviews of patients.
  • Apply demonstrated knowledge of brain-behavior relationships through presentations in didactic seminars.
  • Contribute to clinical research projects.
  • Analyze patient records and clinical findings.
  • Provide rehabilitation interventions (in some settings).
  • Communicate neuropsychological findings and their implications to patients and families.
  • Provide kind and compassionate care consistent with the ethics of professional psychology and the guidelines of the American Psychological Association.
  • Report to work consistently and promptly and provide proper advance notice of absence or tardiness.
  • Arrange for coverage when necessary.
  • Initiate and follow through on clinical and research responsibilities.
  • Notify appropriate staff when leaving assigned area and ensure qualified personnel cover the work assignment/patient team during breaks/away times.
  • Maintain clear and accurate notes.
