About The Position

The Neuropsych Testing Tech - Advocate Memory Center position is a full-time role within the AMG Lutheran General - Neurology: Behavioral department. The primary responsibilities include administering and scoring psychological and neuropsychological tests, documenting procedures, scheduling services, and developing skills in intermediate and advanced level procedures. The role also involves maintaining testing supplies and adhering to departmental policies. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in psychology or a related field, with preferred experience in pediatric psychological assessment. Strong communication, organizational, and patient rapport skills are essential, along with basic computer literacy and familiarity with psychological terminology. The role operates Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, and involves the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with established time constraints, interact with medical and psychological patients, and lift up to 35 pounds without assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Administers routine psychological and neuropsychological tests according to test standards and departmental guidelines.
  • Performs technical interpretations (scoring) of routine level procedures by both manual and computer analysis.
  • Ensures test administration and scoring is appropriate for the age and cognitive status of each patient as discussed with the supervising psychologist.
  • Instructs patients in the use of self-report testing, reviews patient’s self-report data and scores the test(s).
  • Seeks out assistance from Neuropsychologists for individual supervision as needed.
  • Provides complete documentation for each procedure performed and maintains necessary records.
  • Reports behavioral observations.
  • Reviews patient’s existing records to aid in the assessment of the test data.
  • Interprets test data under direct supervision of Neuropsychologist.
  • Upon receipt of referral, schedules services for outpatients.
  • Communicates effectively with physicians and patients. Demonstrates a tolerance for new ideas and suspends initial judgments, gives and accepts constructive feedback.
  • Assists with pre-certification procedures for insurance requirements.
  • Attains knowledge and skills necessary to perform intermediate and advanced level procedures and preliminary interpretations of these procedures by both manual and computer analysis.
  • Orders and maintains testing supplies.
  • Adheres to departmental policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
